Chinese for K-12
Confucius Institute hosts a variety of activities and programs designed for K-12. We host annual Chinese Language Competition for NJ High Schools in which students are tested on their pronunciation, character writing, among various other aspects of Chinese.
The 8th Annual Chinese Language Competition for NJ High Schools in 2018 will be held on Satruday, May 12, 2018 from 9AM to 1PM at Scott Hall, College Avenue Campus of Rutgers University. For more information, please see Flyer Here and Competition Detail PDF here.

We also run Chinese Enrichment Classes for Kids. This program introduces children to Chinese language and culture through simple lessons with crafts, songs and rhymes. Children will learn basic Chinese words such as hello (nihao), my name is (wo jiao), and great job (zhen bang). These classes run at various times throughout the year.

Chinese Opera Workshop for Kids. This program introduces Chinese Kun Opera. Participants learn about various stage props, their symbolic use, common stage movements as well as the common characters and dress.
